Northampton: Lodging

It's been gray gray gray here except for a brief burst of sunlight yesterday. This morning, I woke up before the alarm to the sound of a light rain against our bedroom windows (again!). Oh to be where it was warm and dry!

Feel free to follow along as I dream of waking up elsewhere...
  • Beautiful Farmhouse with Lovely View - A rented home with farmland views located between Amherst and Northampton that sleeps four. Beautiful home with modern furnishings.
  • Charming Apartment Two Blocks from Downtown - Apartment very near to downtown Northampton that sleeps two-four. Off street parking for one car is included, and a three night minimum is required ($140/night).
  • Hotel Northampton - This looks like the resident high class hotel in Northampton. Rates look a little pricey for my taste (~$200/night for a queen room), but they have plenty of amenities (including a plush terry robes - now who doesn't like that?).
  • Autumn Inn - This inn (not a hotel - there are only 32 rooms) is located within walking distance of downtown Northampton. From the pictures, the rooms seem a bit plain, but the outside looks a bit like a country manor (although not on the Downton scale). I would almost stay here just to see the enormous fireplace that takes up an entire wall in the breakfast room.
  • Sugar Maple Trailside Inn - I'm drawn to this because of the words "trailside" and the fact that they offer guests cruiser bicycles for use on the trail. Sugar Maple isn't located near downtown Northampton, but the fact that it's just a bicycle ride away is fine by me! The rooms are basic, but well priced. While this is a bed and breakfast, they only serve continental style. For a freshly cooked meal, visit one of the local restaurants.
  • The Knoll Bed and Breakfast - This B&B is well priced (~$90/night) and the building itself is a country Tudor design. It, too, seems basic and functional - the bathrooms are shared.
  • Hampton Inn Hadley-Amherst - Located across the river near Amherst, this Hampton Inn is your typical chain hotel - you'll get exactly what you expect.
  • Quality Inn and Suites - Located south of downtown Northampton.
  • Clarion Hotel & Conference Center - Located further south of downtown Northampton from the Quality Inn and Suites - we're heading out of town, here!
I won't lie...I was hoping for a little more. I kept getting a feeling of utilitarianism - which is ok, just unexpected. We'll see what the itinerary is shaping up to be before we make a final decision on lodging.
